Intersil (India) Private Limited was established in 1979 as a technical and financial collaboration between General Electric (GE) and the Mehra family in Bombay , India . This business was engaged in the assembly and test of semiconductors namely Metal. Can and P-DIP devices and provided services to GE/Harris/Intersil for almost 3 decades.

In the course of this business, the Intersil (India) Group diversified into software and realestate development.Intersil's Joint Venture with NCR involved the production and distribution of ATM machines in India in the early 1980's. This venture also entailed application development for banking software and sale of both ATM's and related software products to multinational banks like ABN-AMRO and Standard Chartered in India.
The family's stake was divested in 1994.
